he Waverly Police Department, established in 1829, is located in Waverly, Ohio - the county seat of Pike County in the south-central portion of the state. The agency is made up of 15 sworn officers and 9 auxiliary officers, as well as dispatchers and other personnel. The Waverly P.D. serves over 4,000 residents and boasts multiple divisions including road patrol, a special response team and a crime prevention unit. Our foremost mission is to serve and protect the citizens within our jurisdiction.

Bystander assists Waverly Police Department in apprehending shoplifter fleeing from Kroger

Chief Larry Roe reports that on Wednesday August 11th, 2010 at 5:18 pm, Ptl. Joe Taylor was dispatched on a call of a shoplifter who
had fled on foot from Kroger. Ptl. Taylor took the male into custody from Greg Chattin who had chased the male to E. Fourth Street.
The male was identified at 31 year old Cheyenne L. Payne of Waverly.
